What the credit card companies are doing is going to backfire on them. As more
people get punished and their rates go up to 30 % or more, then people
will stop paying their bills and the credit cards will start losing money.
They are worse than the Mafia.

This happened to me with Capital One, went from 4.99% to only 9.99% because they said they feel I'm higher risk, no other reason. Said I can cancel my account and still pay it down at 4.99%, OR.... I will have to start paying it at 9.99%. Ugh!

This happened to me with the Chase card. I had not been late on any credit card payments and they raised my APR to 29.99%. When I called to inquire, they said that I had high balances on the other cards and I was considered a high risk.
